How you get your Rise
Evaluation
Your Rise prescription typically starts with a rehabilitation doctor or orthotist. They evaluate your condition, whether you need an AFO and if so, determine whether the Rise is the right solution for you.
Consultation and Trial Walking
The next step is that an appointment is scheduled with one of the orthopedic facilities we work with. Together with an orthotist, you can try walking and your specific needs, lifestyle, and mobility goals are mapped out to better understand what the best fit and stiffness is for you.
3D Scanning & Customization
If you and your orthotist agree on the Rise, a 3D scan is made of your leg and foot. Your Rise is designed on this 3D scan so that it is perfectly adapted to your anatomy for optimal comfort and performance.
Production
After we receive the 3D scan and order, we design your personalized Rise and begin the production process. In approximately 2 weeks, your personalized Rise is produced in the factory and delivered to your orthotist.
Delivery & Fitting
Once your Rise has arrived at the orthotist, they will further adjust the brace to your needs. After that, you will come by to receive the brace and receive additional training on its use.

On average the process from evaluation to delivery takes between 2 and 3 weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a medical referral?
Typically, your rehabilitation doctor, neurologist or orthopedic doctor can refer you to an orthotist for a (specific) AFO, such as the Rise. You can reach out to your doctor and ask them.
How durable is the Rise?
The Rise is built from an orthopedic grade nylon polymer that is tested for daily use. You can wear the brace for long periods of time and we provide a 2 year warranty with normal use.
How long does it take to receive my Rise?
From your first appointment to the final fitting, the process usually takes two to three weeks. Timelines can vary slightly depending on the clinic and your individual adjustments.
Is the Rise compatible with my shoes?
As the Rise is not inserted in the shoe, but in between the laces and the shoe tongue, it is compatible with almost all (laced) shoes. As it does not chafe against the inside of your shoe, they typically last much longer than with a conventional foot drop brace.
Is the Rise reimbursed by my health insurance?
The Rise is reimbursed under most Dutch health insurances subject to certain conditions. For example, it is dependent on your specific condition and whether you have been prescribed an AFO before (and how much time ago that was). Your orthotist or doctor can let you know whether you can get the Rise reimbursed.
Is the Rise suitable for me?
The Rise is an AFO designed for dorsiflexor weakness (drop foot), but with some contra-indications (for example, if there is also muscle weakness in the calf and thigh). If you experience this, it may mean that the Rise may not be the best solution for you. Your doctor and orthotist are best equipped to assess whether in your specific case the Rise is suitable. If you are curious whether the Rise is something for you, ask them (or us).
What makes the Rise different from other foot drop braces?
The Rise is a functionally personalized, 3D printed ankle foot orthosis designed to move with and not against you. Most other foot drop braces are made of a stiff plastic shell with a rigid footplate under the foot that causes discomfort, restricts motion and causes chafing marks. The Rise is not inserted in the shoe, and therefore more comfortable and allows for a normal ankle movement during walking.
